Happy Hump Day Readers! I hope all my San Diego readers are enjoying this first rainfall of the season; whatever season this is 😛
I’ve been having some busy work days these last few days so I wanted write a fun blog post today. If you’ve read the title, you’re probably wondering “how much of a fast food connoisseur is she?”
I was trying to think back to when I had this conversation about being a fast food junkie; I’m pretty sure I was talking to Tony. We were watching a basketball game and a Burger King commercial came on advertising their tacos.
I also recalled having the same conversation with my coworker, when he told me that Burger King came out with tacos as though this was a new thing.
Being the fast food connoisseur that I am, Burger King releasing crispy tacos was actually not a “new thing” at all. Burger King used to sell two crispy tacos for 99 cent back then. When Burger King began dying out and was making it’s way down to the bottom of the fast food chain, they no longer sold tacos.
These tacos became part of their comeback recently. Along side introducing new items in the last several years such the chicken fries, the spicy chicken fries, Cheetos chicken fries, whatever chicken fries. And on top of that, their new chicken nuggets, spicy chicken nuggets and their spicy chicken sandwich.
Trust me: I used to eat a lot of Burger King. Only because it was literally down the street from me. I used to order a side of fries, a side of onion rings, and their chicken tenders… yes honey, you heard me right… CHICKEN TENDERS not nuggets. I have also ordered a number of times, their crispy tacos! So, it was not a “new thing;” they just brought it back.
I know a lot about fast food. And I sure talk about how much I want it too… but in more recent years, I have been putting my health first and have actually cut back. I still talk about it a lot but I don’t go out of my way to go get it.
We all have a different definition for what is considered to be “fast food.” Fast food to me can be any place that has a drive-through window and can be easily picked up during lunch hours or on the way home.
Here are some of my favorite fast food joints with my favorite items to get. By the way, this is in no particular order… I try to not discriminate against any chain unless I truly don’t like their food and no I do not order all these things at once:
McDonalds: Fries, Chicken Nuggets, Strips, Filet-O-Fish, McFlurry, and the Apple Pie. Favorite sauces includes Sweet n Sour and BBQ.
Popeye’s: Tenders, Cajun Fries, all the biscuits in the world. Favorite sauce is Sweet Heat.
Jack in the Box: Curly Fries, Tacos, Chicken Strips, Sourdough Jack, Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Favorite sauces include Buttermilk and Sweet and Sour.
Wendy’s: Spicy Chicken Nuggets, Fries, Baked Potatoes. Favorite sauce is Sweet and Sour.
Taco Bell: Supreme Tacos… Doritos Locos Tacos… Just give me and Joey the party packs! Whatever. All the hot sauces with the sayings on them. Oh wait, that’s all of them.
There is absolutely more but those are the ones I can think of from the top of my head. Someone is going to give me shit for not including In N Out or Chick Fil A. I love both, don’t get your panties in a knot! 😛
I think I have earned the title rightfully so! Although I love and know so much about our most popular fast food restaurants in America, I try to be very aware of what I’m putting in my mouth this time around.
Obesity and diabetes a huge health issue in America. Did you know that more than one-third of adults in the U.S. are obese and that it affects 1 in 6 children in the U.S.? That’s a lot.
I used to fast food like it was no big deal but now eating fast food impacts my body in so many ways; it’s so draining. That’s why I try to have it once in awhile; sort of like a treat or a craving that needs to be fulfilled that “very one time.”
What are your favorite fast food restaurants? What are your favorite fast food items? Maybe we have some similar items in common. Let me know.
Sorry if I made you hungry or crave fast food!… Just kidding. Sorry not sorry. Fast food is so yummy as so long as you don’t over do it. I hope you all enjoyed reading this blog as much as I enjoyed actually writing it.
Until the next post,
Don’t go getting into violent in the Popeye’s Drive-Thru now 😛
